Tara Avery
Tara Avery finds talking about herself in the third person extremely off-putting.
Hi, I'm Tara. I'm a writer and editor currently located in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, though I've also lived in NYC, Abu Dhabi, Boston, and numerous other Canadian cities. I have a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of British Columbia in Theatre, Film, and Creative Writing. I'm a Professional Member of the Chartered Institute of Editors and Proofreaders, Editors Canada, and the Canadian Authors Association. I love books in all their forms, cheese, ice cream, travel, dresses with pockets, and the Oxford comma.
(Don't worry; as your editor, I won't impose that love on your text!)
Storytelling is my passion. I believe stories unite us, entertain us, teach us, and illuminate truths about us. As both a writer and editor, I use my skills to help tell your story, no matter the narrative.
"But, Tara," I hear you ask, "I want you to edit an academic paper or an email."
Every piece of writing tells a story to an audience. For example, a story can inform (emails, newsletters, academic papers), persuade (advertising copy), or entertain (fiction, screenplays). Many narratives accomplish more than one function. No matter what kind of narrative you require, I can help you create or edit it so your story shines, your prose is polished, and your audience is engaged.
